Course Description

The Beartooths host Montana's premier backpacking routes, both on and off trail. Expect wild alpine scenery from glacial valleys to high plateaus. Known for it's pristine lakes, beautiful waterfalls, and towering granite walls, you can expect a memorable hiking trip in the Beartooth Wilderness. This trip is rated "Beginner", while it does not require previous Backpacking experience it does require a fitness standard. You need to be able to carry 30lbs while hiking 1000 ft over 5 miles. Itinerary 14 miles, 2400' elevation gain, 2400 ' elevation loss Day 0: Mandatory gear check at 4 pm in Red Lodge. Day 1: 8 am, Mystic Lake THD (at 6500ft) to Mystic Lake. 5 miles with 1000 ft of elevation gain. We will hike along the scenic mystic river valley, a drainage of the Beartooth mountains. ​Day 2: Mystic Lake to Pricesse Lake. 2 miles and 1400 ft of elevation gain. The remote alpine lake offers quietness and wildlife seeings. Option to explore and day hike to Avalanche Lake. ​Day 3: Princess Lake to Mystic Lake THD. 7 miles, 500 ft of elevation gain and 1400 ft of elevation loss. Expected return around 3pm. This trip includes a guide for every 6 participants, breakfasts, dinners and cooking equipment. Please inquire about rental tents, sleeping bag, pads and backpacks. Specific personal equipment such as a water filter and other backpacking equipment is required. Transportation is not included. With the purchase of this trip, you agree to our Cancellation Policy.

Cancellation Policy

The 2.9% credit card processing fee is not refundable. In the event of a cancellation 31 days or more before your upcoming trip, Beartooth Mountain Guides refunds your entire deposit, apart from processing fees. 30-14 days in advance of your upcoming trip, Beartooth Mountain Guides refunds 50% of trip cost. Within 14 days, no refunds are accepted. Remaining costs are due one month prior to trip start date. Travel insurance, such as Travel Guard or World Nomads, is highly recommended to protect the cost of your trip in the event of a last minute cancellation.
